چکیده

This paper describes a simplified system model for rapidly evaluating disturbance propagation through a heat exchanger network. The model depicts cause-effect relationships between a set of stream output variables (target temperature fluctuations) and a set of input variables (disturbances of source temperatures and heat capacity flowrates). The model, which consists of a set of linear equations of disturbances, can precisely evaluate the propagation caused by even severe temperature disturbances and/or by moderate heat capacity flowrate fluctuations. It is easy to use, computationally efficient, and particularly helpful in analyzing integrated process systems where disturbance propagation is always a major concern. Case studies demonstrate the applicability of the model in process analysis and improvement.

This paper presents a simple methodology for cost estimation of a near optimal heat exchanger network, which comprises mixed materials of construction. Intraditional pinch technology and mathematical programming it is usually assumed that all heat exchangers in a network obey a single cost model. This implies that all heat exchangers  in a network are of the same type and use the same mate...

Area Energy and Throughput Targeting in Debottlenecking of Heat Exchanger Networks with Decomposition Approach

For energy saving retrofit projects, its economics are usually evaluated in terms of capital investment and payback time. The capital investment is in direct relation to the total heat recovery area of the network and the payback time factor is base on both the area and the energy savings. The debottlenecking is an increased throughput, which can be profitable in economic sense. The combination...
